Mathew 22:14 EP Review

  Jointz   2021/10/15

Chad Da Don and Pdot O are two of the most consistent rappers in putting work out. Even so, them coming together for a joint project was not something that many may have predicted before the singles started coming out. And that’s what makes it so intriguing to witness.

The pair teamed up to give their fans a seven-track EP that goes by the name Mathew 22:14. As the bible scripture goes, “Many are called, few are chosen”. Bible scriptures and references are right along Pdot O’s alley and he kicked a lot of these in his verses on this project as well. The name is fitting for the collab between two rappers that like to draw attention to their rap skill.

You get a back and forth on the raps that almost feels openly competitive, deliberately so. Chad and Pdot O pit themselves against each other. They still rap with a certain hunger for recognition of their skill. That desire dominates their content, in tandem with their escapades with women. It’s a good balance for a light project. Pdot O takes a step back from his heavily emotional

Out of the seven songs on the EP, 5 make for some good music and a good effort on the raps from the duo. As they were aiming to highlight their rap skills, the three songs that stood out where they delivered really well are The Man, Issues and SENSEI which features Youngsta CPT.

The two entries that fall short of impressing are  For My Gang and Better days. For My Gang starts off with a not so nice verse from  E-JayCPT that makes the track easily skippable. Better days has the type of shaky vocals that have stained the individual work of each artist. It feels like it lacks a certain finishing touch.

The content is women on most of the songs. With the production and song arrangement, it feels more like a Chad Da Don project that features Pdot O on every song. Adding a stamp to that is the fact that it was released through Cad’s DCM entertainment. Still, Pdot stepped into Chad’s world and did amazingly well. The competitive spirit brought out some of the best rapping each of the rappers has had to deliver. They were both in the mood to rap and it’s something their fans will highly appreciate.
